2011 Daily Prayer Devotions
God created everything and set us as stewards for all creation. All that we are and all that we have is from God for God's ultimate glory. We acknowledge God’s ownership by our faithful service to God and to our neighbors, and by returning tithes and giving offerings for the proclamation of the Good News and the support and growth of God's church.
Glen Mar United Methodist Church is poised to enter a new era as its members praise God, grow disciples and serve the world, creating new opportunities for God to be at work in people’s lives.
In 2008, the church moved into a new facility, which greatly expanded possibilities for ministry. To continue the financing of this new sending, the congregation has launched on a capital campaign. With a mortgage obligation of almost $700,000 a year, the campaign hopes to raise $2.5 million to cover payments for the next three years and set some funds aside for future growth.
Over the next several months, Glen Mar members will be discerning how they can enliven the church’s vision with a three-year financial pledge that will be made at a churchwide event June 5.
In addition, to continue impacting lives of Glen Mar’s 1,216 members, 854 constituents and more than 125 programs and ministry activities, $1.4 million is being raised to finance the church’s annual operating budget.
This annual pledge will be offered in worship on May 22.
The stewardship campaign builds upon a recent Ignite program exploration of vision, in which the church committed itself to reaching out to the increasing number of people moving into Howard County, and to be a church that more intentionally roots people in the life-giving message of Jesus Christ.
You are invited to awaken to the vision God has for you and the gifts you have to offer.
A portion of our offerings also supports the United Methodist Church and its ministries to reach out to the rest of the world and spread the message of God's love further than we can alone. You can read about how the United Methodist Church is Sharing God's Gifts by visiting:
