Mission Trips logo

Glen Mar Youth trips are organized by the Glen Mar Youth Minister. Participants in the Glen Mar Youth trips are required to attend mandatory training sessions prior to the trips. The cost of each trip includes all housing, meals, materials and a T-shirt. Participants are encouraged to support various mission trip fund-raisers to help cover the costs of chaperon registration, vehicle rental, and fuel.

Summer 2012: Hurley, VA trips

This year there will be two Hurley trips: “Hurley #1” from June 24-30 and “Hurley #2” from July 1-7. Cost is $350.

The Hurley trips are open to 8th grade and above. During trips to Hurley, participants stay in the gymnasium at Hurley High School, which we support via our extreme fundraising programs. We create long-lasting relationships while building porches, bathrooms, roofs and making many other improvements in this Appalachian community. This year there will be one Jacksonville trip: “Urban Mission Experience” from July 22-28. Cost is $290.

In Jacksonville we work with a different inner city ministry each day. Some of the work we have done in the past includes working at soup kitchens, clothing closets, food banks, Habitat for Humanity, Headstart, Angelwood (day camp for children with special needs), and various academic and social enrichment programs for children.

The "Urban Mission Experience" trip is open to 9th grade and above. This trip is sponsored by the Presbyterian Social Ministries.

See the Jacksonville Trip Photo Album.
